I hear there is a good possibility that sometime in the near future we will be doing this ministry thing together - walking the walk of Jesus, growing together in faith, reaching out into our community with some Good News! The possibility has me bubbling over with joy, as I hope it does you, too! Together, we will worship an amazing God, together we will strengthen understandings of how faith affects our lives and together, we will find what is God's vision for First Christian Church in our community of San Marcos!
I am passionate about what God can do with the church when a church is built on the premise of Psalm 133, "How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!"; which is why I feel God has called me to your church and your congregation. In my time with the search committee, I felt a sense of comradery, a sense that God was working and bringing forth something exciting. My heart was hopeful at the potential the San Marcos community itself showed in bringing people into a deeper, more soulful connection to God. I do ministry because I know God can do great things with our churches if we have strong leadership, passion, stability, unity, and recognize that at any given moment, the Holy Spirit can and will work miracles in us mere human beings. I am called to San Marcos because I believe the church itself sees who she is and who she could be, yet also embraces her own humanity and I dig that!
Enough about that, let me introduce you to me and my humanity! I'm Jill - mother, wife, minister, daughter, singer, volleyball player, horrible tennis player, clutz, dreamer, idealist, lover of God, soul searcher, listener, preacher, compassionate, authentic and honest, faith seeker, student of Jesus, and best of all, Child of God. I am a wife to Eric Sullins and a mother to a beautiful, precious and the most intelligent 19 month old you have ever met named Madison Jane (Maddie), not that I'm bias in any way. I am so looking forward to getting to know each of you, your stories, who you are, what your gifts are and your passions - which is where I want to start in ministry with you. I know it is early. I know I am not there yet, but I would LOVE, if you get some time, for you to just drop me a note (I'm sure there's a bucket or box at the church or something or email me, )...introduce yourself a little, let me know what you struggle with in faith and what you'd like to hear in a sermon. It is my personal goal that I will know your stories by the end of the year and that your faith questions will be explored not just individually, but as a community while maintaining their confidentiality, of course. My goal in preaching is to bring forth the Scripture that will illuminate and address and help us with our daily struggles of living in a relevant and meaningful way.
I am so inspired by the grace of God who is bringing us together to do ministry. I look forward to all there is ahead of us and how that amazing grace of God will shine through First Christian Church of San Marcos, TX! See ya soon!
